William Lyburn (Winnipeg, MB) lost 6-4 to Dean Dunstone (Winnipeg, MB) in the Final of the Carberry King Spud Classic, held October 14 - 17, 2011 in Carberry, Manitoba. To advance to the championship game, Lyburn won 6-3 over Kelly Marnoch (Carberry, MB) in the semifinals of the 2011 Carberry King Spud Classic in Carberry, Manitoba; and won 8-2 over Rob Fowler (Brandon, MB) in the quarterfinals.

Lyburn finished 3-2 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Lyburn defeated Shawn Taylor (Brandon, MB) 6-2, then went on to lose 6-2 against Manitoba's Joey Witherspoon. Lyburn responded with a 6-2 win over Sean Grassie (Winnipeg, MB). Lyburn went on to lose 7-5 against Marnoch. Lyburn responded with a 7-3 win over Grassie in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Carberry King Spud Classic, Lyburn take home 3.395 world rankings points along with the $2,000CDN prize, moving up 11 spots the World Ranking Standings into 71st place overall with 19.583 total points. Lyburn ranks 87th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 3.395 points earned so far this season.
