Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB) lost 6-5 to Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB) in the Final of the Cactus Pheasant Classic, held October 25 - 28, 2012 in Brooks, Alberta. To advance to the championship game, McEwen won 6-2 over Glenn Howard (Coldwater, ON) in the semifinals of the 2012 Cactus Pheasant Classic in Brooks, Alberta; and won 5-2 over Rob Fowler (Brandon, MB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2012 Cactus Pheasant Classic in Brooks, Alberta;

McEwen finished 3-1 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McEwen defeated Chang-Min Kim (Gyeongbuk Uiseong, KOR) 6-1, then won 8-1 against Charley Thomas (Calgary, AB). McEwen went on to lose 7-3 against Koe. McEwen responded with a 6-4 win over Sweden's Niklas Edin in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Cactus Pheasant Classic, McEwen take home 25.000 world rankings points along with the $14,000CDN prize, moving up 1 spots the World Ranking Standings into 2nd place overall with 297.810 total points. McEwen ranks 7th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 60.000 points earned so far this season.
