Thomas Ulsrud (oslo, NOR) qualified for the 2012 Swiss Cup Basel playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 6-5 against Mark Dacey (Halifax, NS). of the 2012 Swiss Cup Basel in Basel, Switzerland;
 
Ulsrud finished 5-2 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Ulsrud defeated Michael Schifferli (Bern, SUI) 7-2, then won 7-2 against Switzerland's Bernhard Werthemann and 6-4 against Switzerland's Marc Pfister. Ulsrud went on to lose 7-2 against Sven Michel (Adelboden, SUI). Ulsrud lost 8-3 to Switzerland's Bernhard Werthemann where Ulsrud responded with a 7-4 win over Switzerland's Pascal Hess. Ulsrud won 5-1 against Tom Brewster (Aberdeen, SCO) in their final qualifying round match.
