Alexey Timofeev (Moscow, RUS) finished 4-3 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Timofeev defeated Rasmus Stjerne (Hvidovre, DEN) 6-3, then went on to lose 9-6 against Aku Kauste (Hyvinkaa, FIN). Timofeev lost 6-5 to Joel Retornaz (Trentino, ITA). Timofeev lost 7-5 to Jiri Snitil (Prague, CZE) where Timofeev responded with a 9-6 win over Jaap van Dorp (Zoetermeer, NED). Timofeev won 6-5 against Alexander Baumann (Hamburg, GER), then won 8-5 against Rui Liu (Harbin, CHN) in their final qualifying round match.

Timofeev earned 6.843 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week 18 of the event schedule, Timofeev did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Timofeev ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
