Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB) won 5-3 over Jean-Michel Menard (Gatineau, QC) in the Final of the Challenge Chateau Cartier de Gatineau, held October 23 - 26, 2014 at the Buckingham Curling Club in Buckingham, Canada. To advance to the championship game, McEwen won 9-5 over Reid Carruthers (Winnipeg, MB) in the semifinals of the 2014 Challenge Chateau Cartier de Gatineau in Buckingham, Quebec, Canada; and won 1-0 over Mark Dacey (Halifax, NS) in the quarterfinals.
 
McEwen finished 4-0 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McEwen defeated Josh Adams (Ottawa, ON) 7-5, then won 7-5 against Martin Ferland (Trois-Rivieres, QC) and 7-2 against Menard. McEwen won 8-4 against Dacey in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Challenge Chateau Cartier de Gatineau Championship title, McEwen earned 35.000 world rankings points along with the $11,000CDN first prize cheque, remaining in 2nd place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 342.410 total points. McEwen ranks 1st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 145.000 points earned so far this season.
