In their opening game, Schulze defeated Wolfgang Burba (Obertstdorf, GER) 8-1, then went on to lose 7-4 against Alexander Baumann (Fuessen, GER). Schulze responded with a 10-5 win over Burba. Schulze went on to lose 6-1 against Baumann in their final qualifying round match.
