Kauste finished 3-1 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Kauste defeated Markus Hoiberg (Oppdal, NOR) 7-1, then went on to lose 5-3 against Scott MacLeod (Edinburgh, SCO). Kauste responded with a 8-2 win over Stuart Taylor (Glasgow, SCO). Kauste won 7-6 against John Shuster (Duluth, USA) in their final qualifying round match.
Kauste earned 15.376 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Aberdeen International Curling Championship, moving up 1 spots the World Ranking Standings into 27th place overall with 178.946 total points.
