McLean lost 7-6 to Bob Smallwood (Whitehorse, YK) where McLean responded with a 11-1 win over Steve Moss (Yellowknife, NT). McLean went on to lose 8-1 against Maxime Elmaleh (Quebec City, QC). McLean responded with a 7-3 win over Dean Joanisse (New Westminster, BC). McLean won 7-5 against Eddie MacKenzie (Charlottetown, PEI), then won 8-4 against Chris Ford (St. John's, NL) in their final qualifying round match.
