Funk went on to lose 6-4 against Lyle Sieg (Seattle, WA). Funk lost 8-2 to Dale Gibbs (St. Paul, MN) where Funk responded with a 9-1 win over Ken Towne (Indianapolis, IN) in their final qualifying round match.
