MacDiarmid finished 3-1 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, MacDiarmid defeated Christie Gamble (Halifax, NS) 7-6, then went on to lose 7-1 against Robyn MacPhee (Charlottetown, PEI). MacDiarmid responded with a 10-0 win over Lisa Moore (Halifax, NS). MacDiarmid won 4-2 against Mary Mattatall (Halifax, NS) in their final qualifying round match.
