Ritvars Gulbis (Riga, LAT) finished 2-1 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Gulbis defeated Sebastian Wunderer (Kitzbuhel, AUT) 10-2, then won 8-2 against Switzerland's Fritz Oswald. Gulbis went on to lose 5-2 against Bjorn Jungen (Adelboden, SUI) in their final qualifying round match.

Gulbis earned 7.287 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the Thompson Curling Challenge, moving up 88 spots the World Ranking Standings into 193rd place overall with 12.448 total points. Gulbis ranks 124th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 7.287 points earned so far this season.
