To advance to the championship game, Ackerman won 11-8 over Mark Walter (Lampman, SK) in the semifinals of the 2017 SaskTel Tankard - South Qualifier in Assinboia, Saskatchewan;

Ackerman finished 3-1 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Ackerman defeated Shaylor Layman (Lafleche, SK) 9-5, then won 9-3 against Daniel Selke (Regina, SK). Ackerman went on to lose 8-1 against Brent Gedak (Estevan, SK). Ackerman responded with a 11-3 win over Walter in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the SaskTel Tankard - South Qualifier, Ackerman take home 5.363 world rankings points, moving up 5 spots the World Ranking Standings into 64th place overall with 97.075 total points. Ackerman ranks 74th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 43.862 points earned so far this season.
