Reid Carruthers (Winnipeg, MB) qualified for the 2017 Direct Horizontal Drilling Fall Classic playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 5-4 against Rui Liu (Harbin, CHN). of the 2017 Direct Horizontal Drilling Fall Classic in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada;

Carruthers finished 4-2 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Carruthers defeated Kurt Balderston (Edmonton, AB) 7-2, then won 8-3 against Colton Flasch (Saskatoon, SK). Carruthers went on to lose 5-4 against Pat Simmons (Winnipeg, MB). Carruthers lost 5-2 to Flasch where Carruthers responded with a 7-2 win over SooHyuk Kim (Gangwon, KOR). Carruthers won 8-0 against Charley Thomas (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.

Carruthers earned 24.703 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Direct Horizontal Drilling Fall Classic, remaining in 4th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 460.715 total points. Carruthers ranks 23rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 56.254 points earned so far this season.
