Pat Simmons (Winnipeg, MB) run at the 2017 Direct Horizontal Drilling Fall Classic came to an end in the semifinals with a 3-2 loss to Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB). of the 2017 Direct Horizontal Drilling Fall Classic in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; Simmons advanced through the quarterfinals with a 5-2 win over Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK).

Simmons finished 3-0 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Simmons defeated Thomas Scoffin (Whitehorse, YK) 7-2, then won 4-3 against Karsten Sturmay (Edmonton, AB) and 5-4 against Reid Carruthers (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.

Simmons earned 34.996 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the Direct Horizontal Drilling Fall Classic, remaining in 15th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 289.139 total points. Simmons ranks 8th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 112.986 points earned so far this season.
