Jay Merchant (Sydney, AUS) finished 2-6 in the 9-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Merchant lost 7-3 to Yuta Matsumura (Sapporo, JPN), then responded with a 7-6 win over Viktor Kim (Almaty, KAZ). Merchant went on to lose 7-3 against SooHyuk Kim (Seoul, KOR). Merchant lost 4-3 to Scott Becker (Naseby, NZL). Merchant lost 10-3 to Randie Shen (Taipei, TPE) where Merchant responded with a 13-3 win over Nassar Alyafei (Doha, QAT). Merchant went on to lose 10-4 against Jason Chang (Hong Kong, HKG). Merchant lost 8-6 to Qiang Zou (Beijing, CHN) in their final qualifying round match.

Merchant earned 2.672 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, moving up 14 spots the World Ranking Standings into 173rd place overall with 17.857 total points. Merchant ranks 117th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 16.735 points earned so far this season.
