Brad Wood (Penticton, BC) 8-1, then won 6-3 against Neil Dangerfield ( Victoria, BC) and 9-4 against Karsten Sturmay (Edmonton, AB). Gushue went on to lose 8-5 against Brad Jacobs (Sault Ste Marie, NONT). Gushue lost 8-5 to John Shuster (Duluth, USA) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Gushue earned 10.688 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, dropping 3 spots on the World Ranking Standings into 7th place overall with 406.794 total points. Gushue ranks 4th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 204.634 points earned so far this season.
