To advance to the championship game, McDonald won 5-4 over Alek Bedard (Lacolle, QC) in the semifinals of the 2019 Challenge Casino de Charlevoix in Clermont, Quebec; and won 5-3 over James Grattan (Oromocto, NB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2019 Challenge Casino de Charlevoix in Clermont, Quebec;
 
McDonald finished 3-2 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McDonald defeated Simon Hebert (Saguenay, QC) 4-3, then went on to lose 6-1 against Grattan. McDonald responded with a 8-5 win over Greg Balsdon (Montreal, QC). McDonald went on to lose 8-6 against Chad Stevens (Truro, NS). McDonald responded with a 6-4 win over Andrin Schnider (St. Gallen, SUI) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Challenge Casino de Charlevoix Championship title, McDonald earned 31.910 world rankings points along with the $8,000CDN first prize cheque, remaining in 14th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 281.647 total points. McDonald ranks 16th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 144.273 points earned so far this season.
