Symonds finished 4-1 in the 24 team Ed Werenich Golden Wrench Classic presented by The Lodge Sasquatch Kitchen qualifying round, held January 9 - 12, 2020 at the Coyotes Curling Club in Scottsdale, United States. In their opening game, Symonds defeated Jim Cotter (Vernon, BC) 6-3, then went on to lose 8-5 against Jason Gunnlaugson (Winnipeg, MB). Symonds responded with a 7-3 win over Wayne Fleming (Tempe, AZ). Symonds won 5-4 against Jordan Chandler (Manitoulin, NONT), then won 5-3 against JT Ryan (Winnipeg , MB) in their final qualifying round match.
