In their opening game, Smith lost 8-1 to Un-Chi Gim (Gyeonggido, KOR), droppimg another game, 7-2 to Justine Comeau (New Brunswick) where Smith responded with a 8-5 win over Ma Yun Yan (Beijing, CHN). Smith went on to lose 7-6 against Sarah Mallais (New Brunswick) in their final qualifying round match.
