Ogihara finished 3-0 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Ogihara defeated Naomasa Takeda (Sapporo, JPN) 7-5, then won 8-2 against Kyosuke Sawaguchi (Morioka, JPN) and 6-2 against Tomoji Arai (Tokyo, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Morioka City Mens Memorial Cup Championship title, Ogihara earned 10.595 world rankings points along with the $984CDN first prize cheque. Ogihara gained 15.756 points improving upon their best 2 events, though dropped 164 spots on the World Ranking Standings into 164thplace overall with 15.756 total points.
