To advance to the championship game, McEwen won 6-4 over Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB) in the semifinals of the 2020 Ashley HomeStore Curling Classic in Penticton, British Columbia, Canada; and won 4-2 over Steve Laycock (Vernon, BC) in the quarterfinals. of the 2020 Ashley HomeStore Curling Classic in Penticton, British Columbia, Canada;
 
McEwen finished 4-1 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McEwen lost 8-4 to Laycock, then responded with a 5-4 win over Karsten Sturmay (Edmonton, AB). McEwen won 7-3 against Wylie Eden (Kelowna, BC), then won 6-1 against Brendan Bottcher (Edmonton, AB) and 7-5 against Sebastien Robillard (Maple Ridge, BC) in their final qualifying round match.
