To advance to the championship game, Aoki won 6-3 over Japan's Masaki Ishikawa in the semifinals of the 2022 Hokkaido Curling Championships in Hokkaido, Japan;
 
Aoki finished 5-2 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Aoki defeated Japan's Yuya Takigahira 6-4, then won 10-1 against Japan's Ryouichi Saitou. Aoki went on to lose 5-4 against Japan's Masaki Ishikawa. Aoki responded with a 8-4 win over Japan's Harunobu Kawahira. Aoki won 6-3 against Japan's Toa Nakahara, then won 8-3 against Japan's Naoki Kanazawa. Aoki went on to lose 7-1 against Japan's Kohsuke Hirata in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Hokkaido Curling Championships Championship title, Aoki earned 4.500 world rankings points, moving up 127 spots the World Ranking Standings into 240th place overall with 5.662 total points. Aoki ranks 223rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 4.500 points earned so far this season.
