Smith finished 3-2 in the 18-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Smith defeated Sam Steep (KW, ON) 7-6, then went on to lose 8-7 against Dayna Deruelle (Harriston, ON). Smith responded with a 6-3 win over Rob Ainsley (Toronto, ON). Smith went on to lose 10-6 against Travis Fanset (St Thomas, ON).
