Tyler Smith (Charlottetown , PEI) is set to play Smith in the Final Smith advanced directly to the championship game after finishing first in the preliminary round. of the PEI Tankard, held January 25 - 29, 2023 in Crapaud, Prince Edward Island. To advance to the championship game, Smith won 9-5 over Darren Higgins (Summerside, PEI) in the semifinals of the 2023 PEI Tankard in Crapaud, Prince Edward Island;

Smith finished 6-1 in the 11-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Smith defeated Steven van Ouwerkerk (Summerside, PEI) 11-5, then won 7-5 against Higgins and 9-8 against Adam Casey (Cornwall, PEI). Smith won 10-9 against Phil Gorveatt (Montague, PEI). Smith went on to lose 8-5 against Higgins. Smith responded with a 9-4 win over Casey. Smith won 7-1 against Higgins in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the PEI Tankard Championship title, Smith earned 7.500 world rankings points. For week 26 of the event schedule, Smith did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Smith ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
