Michelle Hartwell (Sherwood Park, AB) run at the Alberta Curling Series - Event 1 came to an end in the semifinals with a 6-4 loss to Rui Wang (Beijing, CHN). of the Alberta Curling Series - Event 1 in Beaumont, Alberta, Canada; Hartwell advanced through the quarterfinals with a 7-4 win over Nicky Kaufman (Edmonton, AB).

Hartwell finished 3-1 in the 17-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Hartwell defeated Trina Ball (Edmonton, AB) 10-4, then won 6-3 against Minseo Kim (Jeonbuk, KOR). Hartwell went on to lose 7-4 against Yu Han (Beijing, CHN). Hartwell responded with a 7-2 win over Kaylee McNamee (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.

Hartwell earned 8.500 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the Alberta Curling Series - Event 1, moving up 7 spots the World Ranking Standings into 64th place overall with 47.922 total points.
