Braden Calvert (Winnipeg, MB) won 6-5 over Brett Walter (Winnipeg, MB) in the Final of the MCT Championships, held January 12 - 14 at the Heather Curling Club in Winnipeg, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Calvert won 7-3 over Jordon McDonald (Winnipeg, MB) in the semifinals of the MCT Championships in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada;
Calvert finished 3-1 in the 9-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Calvert defeated Thomas McGillivray (Winnipeg, MB) 8-3, then went on to lose 2-0 against Walter. Calvert responded with a 12-11 win over Sean Grassie (Winnipeg, MB). Calvert won 2-0 against McGillivray in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the MCT Championships Championship title, Calvert earned 11.250 world rankings points along with the $2,000CDN first prize cheque. Calvert move up 1 spots after posting a net gain of 9.75 points improving upon their best 7 results so far this season, ranking 46th overall with 81.164 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Calvert ranks 47th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 62.625 points earned so far this season.
