Powers/Saunders finished 4-1 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Powers/Saunders defeated Amanda Skiffington/Paul Dexter (Halifax, NS) 10-4, then went on to lose 8-4 against Smith/Purcell. Powers/Saunders responded with a 11-3 win over Megan Trimm/Matt Sheffield (Halifax, NS). Powers/Saunders won 9-5 against Skiffington/Dexter to advance to the B-Qualifier where they 11-1 against Smith/Purcell to advance to the playoff round. in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Nova Scotia Mixed Doubles Provincials Championship title, Powers/Saunders earned 3.750 world rankings points, dropping 8 spots on the World Ranking Standings into 814th place overall with 38.750 total points.
