After advancing directly to the championship game, Greg Smith (St. John's, NL) lost 7-5 to Andrew Symonds (St. John's, NL) in the Final of the Newfoundland & Labrador Tankard, held January 23 - 28 at the Remax Centre in St. John's, .

Smith finished 7-1 in the 9-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Smith defeated Parker Tipple (St. John's, NL) 10-3, then went on to lose 8-5 against Symonds. Smith responded with a 8-4 win over Trent Skanes (St. John's, NL). Smith won 10-2 against Dylan Hancock (St. John's, NL), then won 9-6 against Ryan McNeil Lamswood (St. John's, NL) and 8-3 against Harold Walters (St. John's, NL). Smith won 9-4 against Dave Thomas (Port-aux-Basques, NL), then won 9-3 against Nathan Young (St. Johns, NL) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Newfoundland & Labrador Tankard, Smith take home 2.750 world rankings points, remaining in 71st place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 50.504 total points. Smith ranks 66th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 38.063 points earned so far this season.
