After advancing directly to the championship game, Kenan Wipf (Calgary, AB) lost 8-3 to Timothy Marin (Sherwood Park, AB) in the Final of the Curling Alberta U20 Provincials, held March 6 - 10 at the Drayton Valley Curl Club in Drayton Valley, Canada.
Wipf finished 6-2 in the 9-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Wipf defeated Lowell Whittmire (Castor, AB) 5-3, then went on to lose 8-4 against Ben Kiist (Edmonton, AB). Wipf responded with a 8-2 win over Nolan Duncan (Calgary, AB). Wipf won 9-3 against Terren Algot (Sherwood Park, AB), then won 7-6 against Kinley Burton (St. Albert, AB) and 10-6 against Zach Davies (Edmonton, AB). Wipf went on to lose 11-5 against Peter Hlushak (Edmonton, AB). Wipf responded with a 8-2 win over Marin in their final qualifying round match.
With their runner-up finish at the Curling Alberta U20 Provincials, Wipf take home 2.750 world rankings points, moving up 40 spots the World Ranking Standings into 180th place overall with 8.188 total points. Wipf ranks 180th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 8.188 points earned so far this season.
