In Own Words:
Im Andrew McDonald, and began curling when Mike Graves, my 7th grade English teacher, introduced me to the sport. Hes my current coach and has mentored me throughout my curling career. I looked up to teams Pedersen and Schroeder, former GLCA junior champions, and credit a great deal of my inspiration to watching their success. I also took interest to curling when it was televised in the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.[cr][lf][cr][lf]I curled with the Midland Curling Club for my first 3 seasons, and over the summer of 2015 moved to Hudson, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland. I now curl with the Mayfield Curling Club in South Euclid, Ohio (also a suburb of Cleveland). I curl with my junior team that I formed when I lived in Midland; we travel to compete in many junior spiels in Canada together.[cr][lf][cr][lf]To me, curling is more than just a sport. Its a defining characteristic to my personality. It helps make me who I am. Ive gained priceless knowledge and experiences from curling and have applied lessons learned curling to my real life. Its a way for me to destress, get in the zone, and be true to myself. Its been a huge positive influence on my life, taking me across Ontario and the Midwest. Curlings also a great way to spend time with people, form relationships, and just have fun. I hope to curl the rest of my life.[cr][lf]
Junior Highlights:
2015 BMO Nesbitt Burns Junior Bonspiel (Sarnia, Ontario) Champion[cr][lf] 2016 GLCA Junior Champion[cr][lf] 3-year USCA Junior Curling Camp attendee[cr][lf]
