The rivalry between Switzerland's Team Tirinzoni and British Columbia's Team Grandy will continue at this weekend's Stu Sells Toronto Tankard as the two teams meet in the A Final Saturday. Both teams are currently 2-0 in the twenty-team triple knockout that will see eight teams qualify for the playoff round.

The Swiss team of Silvana Tirinzoni, Alina Patz, Carole Howald, and Briar Hurlimann faced the United States' Delaney Strouse in their opening game Thursday afternoon. After giving up a single in the first end, the reigning world champions were quick to take a commanding lead, taking two in the second, a single in the third, and a steal of three in the fourth end to open up a 6-1 lead. They secured the victory with deuce in the seventh end for the 8-3 victory.

The team was back on the ice Friday morning for their A semifinal game against Ontario's Danielle Inglis. Things didn't start well for the Swiss as they gave up a steal of two in the first end. They were able, however, to level the score after four ends at three points apiece. They scored three points in the fifth and added a steal in the sixth, leading to a 7-4 victory for the team.

The Vancouver based Grandy rink of Clancy Grandy, Kayla MacMillan, Lindsay Dubue, and Sarah Loken had a similar path to the A Qualifier game, beginning with their first game Thursday night against Ontario's Hailey Armstrong. After taking a quick three points in the first end, the teams traded singles through the next three ends before Team Grandy got three more in the fifth, resulting in a 7-2 win.

They were then back on the ice for the A semifinal against New Brunswick's Andrea Kelly. Like Tirinzoni, the team gave up a steal of two to start the game before controlling in the second half. The Grandy rink took two in the fourth, followed by three consecutive steals to win 8-3.

The two teams will meet in the A final Saturday morning at 10:30 AM Eastern Time. It will be their fourth meeting of the season, with the Grandy rink leading in the head-to-head record 2-1. Team Tirinzoni won the first game in the final of the Summer Series, with Team Grandy winning both meetings at the Curling Stadium Martensville International, including the event final. The winner of the game will be the first qualifier for the playoff round while the loser will drop into the B Event.

Other notable teams competing this weekend in the women's Stu Sells Toronto Tankard include Mackenzie Zacharias (1-0; Altona, Manitoba), Kim Eun-jung (0-1; Gangneung, KOR), Andrea Kelly (1-1; Fredericton, NB), and Laurie St-Georges (1-1; Laval, QC).
