Rui Liu (Harbin, CHN) won 7-5 over Scott Ramsay (winnipeg, MB) in the Final of the FSCC U.S. Open of Curling, held January 3 - 5, 2014 in Blaine, Minnesota. To advance to the championship game, Liu won 6-0 over Tyler George (New York, NY) in the semifinals of the 2014 FSCC U.S. Open of Curling in Blaine, Minnesota; and won 7-6 over Heath McCormick (St Paul, MN) in the quarterfinals.
 
Liu finished 5-0 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Liu defeated Mark Willmert (Blaine, MN) 6-1, then won 8-4 against Jeff Currie (Thunder Bay, ON) and 8-0 against Korey Dropkin (Southborough, MA). Liu won 6-5 against Cory Ward (St. Paul, MN), then won 7-0 against Allison Pottinger (Bemidji, MN) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the FSCC U.S. Open of Curling Championship title, Liu earned 7.750 world rankings points along with the $8,523CDN first prize cheque, moving up 1 spots the World Ranking Standings into 15th place overall with 143.835 total points. Liu ranks 12th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 76.905 points earned so far this season.
