Jia Liang Zang (Beijing, CHN) finished 2-2 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Zang defeated Korey Dropkin (Blaine, USA) 8-1, then went on to lose 5-1 against William Lyburn (Winnipeg, MB). Zang responded with a 4-3 win over Manitoba's Kelly Marnoch. Zang went on to lose 6-3 against Reid Carruthers (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.
