To advance to the championship game, Epping won 4-2 over William Lyburn (Winnipeg, MB) in the semifinals of the 2016 ASHAM U.S. Open of Curling in Blaine, Minnesota, United States; and won 5-3 over Alex Forrest (Winnipeg, MB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2016 ASHAM U.S. Open of Curling in Blaine, Minnesota, United States;
 
Epping finished 4-0 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Epping defeated Stephen Dropkin (Minneapolis, MN) 9-4, then won 6-1 against Mike Farbelow (St. Paul, MN) and 8-2 against Pete Fenson (Blaine, USA). Epping won 6-3 against Adam Casey (summerside, PEI) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the ASHAM U.S. Open of Curling Championship title, Epping earned 48.610 world rankings points along with the $9,729CDN first prize cheque, remaining in 8th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 44.44 after improving upon their best so far this season. Epping ranks 5th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 297.673 points earned so far this season.
