To advance to the championship game, Freilich won 4-3 over Jean-Sebastien Roy (Thurso, QC) in the semifinals of the 2016 Challenge de Curling de Gatineau Open in Buckingham, Quebec; and won 7-6 over Robbie MacLean (Montreal, QC) in the quarterfinals. of the 2016 Challenge de Curling de Gatineau Open in Buckingham, Quebec;
Freilich finished 3-1 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Freilich defeated Dennis Mellerup (New York, USA) 8-3, then won 5-1 against Roxane Perron (Quebec, QC). Freilich went on to lose 3-0 against Alex Berube (Mt-Bruno, QC). Freilich responded with a 7-0 win over Denis Letendre (Trois-Rivieres, QC) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Challenge de Curling de Gatineau Open Championship title, Freilich earned 12.776 world rankings points along with the $2,400CDN first prize cheque, moving up 147 spots the World Ranking Standings into 171st place overall with 16.877 total points. Freilich ranks 90th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 12.776 points earned so far this season.
