Yannick Schwaller (Bern, SUI) lost 7-5 to Marc Pfister (Adelboden, SUI) in the Final of the Swiss Curling Championship, held February 10 - 17, 2018 in Flims, Switzerland.
Schwaller finished 9-1 in the 6-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Schwaller defeated Yves Hess (Zug, SUI) 10-4, then won 10-8 against Felix Attinger (Dubendorf, SUI) and 9-3 against Jan Hess (Zug, SUI). Schwaller won 6-4 against Pfister, then won 8-3 against Lucien Lottenbach (Luzern, SUI). Schwaller went on to lose 11-9 against Hess. Schwaller responded with a 7-6 win over Hess. Schwaller won 8-7 against Lottenbach, then won 7-1 against Attinger and 4-2 against Pfister in their final qualifying round match.
With their runner-up finish at the Swiss Curling Championship, Schwaller take home 13.324 world rankings points. Schwaller move up 2 spots after posting a net gain of 10.836 points improving upon their best results so far this season, ranking 42nd overall with 180.997 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Schwaller ranks 28th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 127.857 points earned so far this season.
