Steven Birklid (Seattle, WA) finished 4-5 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Birklid lost 9-1 to Scott Dunnam (Dresher, PA), then responded with a 8-7 win over Samuel Strouse (Midland, MI). Birklid went on to lose 8-6 against Todd Birr (Blaine, MN). Birklid lost 9-5 to John Shuster (Duluth, USA) where Birklid responded with a 8-6 win over Mark Fenner (Chaska, USA). Birklid won 6-5 against Chase Sinnett (Medfield, MA), then won 9-4 against Brandon Corbett (Rochester, NY). Birklid went on to lose 8-2 against Rich Ruohonen (Chaska, USA). Birklid lost 9-8 to Jed Brundidge (St. Paul, MN) in their final qualifying round match.

Birklid earned 7.892 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week 27 of the event schedule, Birklid did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Birklid ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
