Elena Stern (Oberwallis, SUI) won 6-1 over Yu Han ( Beijing, CHN) in the Final of the International Bernese Ladies Cup, held January 9 - 12, 2020 in Bern, Switzerland. To advance to the championship game, Stern won 10-5 over Isabella Wrana (Sundbyberg, SWE) in the semifinals of the 2020 International Bernese Ladies Cup in Bern, Switzerland; and won 8-6 over Alina Kovaleva (Saint-Petersburg , RUS) in the quarterfinals. of the 2020 International Bernese Ladies Cup in Bern, Switzerland;
 
Stern finished 4-2 in the 27-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Stern defeated Han 6-5, then went on to lose 7-5 against Anna Sidorova (Moscow, RUS). Stern responded with a 7-5 win over Anna Kubeskova (Prague, CZE). Stern went on to lose 6-5 against Binia Feltscher (Langenthal, SUI). Stern responded with a 10-5 win over Jamie Sinclair (Charlotte, NC) to advance to the C-Qualifier where they 8-1 against Nora Wuest (Wetzikon, SUI) to advance to the playoff round. in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the International Bernese Ladies Cup Championship title, Stern earned 46.192 world rankings points along with the $8,070CDN first prize cheque. Stern move up 2 spots after posting a net gain of 20.715 points improving upon their best 8 results so far this season, ranking 8th overall with 323.455 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
