McKeown/Nickel went on to lose 7-4 against Jolene Campbell/John Morris (Canmore, AB). McKeown/Nickel responded with a 11-3 win over Junko Nishimuro/Satoru Tsukamoto (Yamanashi, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.

McKeown/Nickel earned 4.217 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, remaining in 668th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 4.218 after improving upon their best so far this season. McKeown/Nickel ranks 128th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 6.510 points earned so far this season.
