Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE) won 9-3 over Yannick Schwaller (Bern, SUI) in the Final of the Le Gruyere AOP European Curling Championships, held November 16 - 23, 2019 in Helsingborg, Sweden. To advance to the championship game, Edin won 8-4 over Ross Paterson (Stirling, SCO) in the semifinals
Edin finished 9-0 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Edin defeated Mikkel Krause (Hvidovre, DEN) 9-3, then won 8-5 against Schwaller and 11-4 against Joel Retornaz (Trentino, ITA). Edin won 9-4 against Andrew Reed (Kent, ENG), then won 10-3 against Jaap van Dorp (Zoetermeer, NED) and 9-2 against Sergei Glukhov (Moscow, RUS). Edin won 7-2 against Thomas Ulsrud (Oslo, NOR), then won 10-5 against Marc Muskatewitz (Fuessen, GER) and 7-3 against Paterson in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Le Gruyere AOP European Curling Championships Championship title, Edin earned 63.911 world rankings points, moving up 2 spots the World Ranking Standings into 5th place overall with 436.301 total points. Edin ranks 6th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 188.794 points earned so far this season.
