Benny Kapp (Fuessen/Oberstdorf , GER) lost 8-7 to Xueqing Fei (Beijing, CHN) in the Final of the World Junior Curling Championships, held February 25 - March 4, 2023 in Fuessen, Germany. To advance to the championship game, Kapp won 9-6 over Lukas Hostmaelingen (Oslo, NOR) in the semifinals
Kapp finished 7-2 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Kapp defeated Hostmaelingen 13-5, then won 8-5 against Ethan Sampson (Chaska, USA) and 7-6 against Eunbin Kim (Kyungil, KOR). Kapp won 7-5 against Orrin Carson (Dumfries, SCO), then won 8-6 against Switzerland's Jan Iseli. Kapp went on to lose 4-3 against Giacomo Colli (Cortina d'Ampezzo, ITA). Kapp responded with a 11-4 win over Serkan Karagoz (Erzurum, TUR). Kapp won 8-2 against Landan Rooney (Whitby, CAN). Kapp went on to lose 4-3 against Fei in their final qualifying round match.
With their runner-up finish at the World Junior Curling Championships, Kapp take home 22.000 world rankings points. For week 31 of the event schedule, Kapp did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Kapp ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
