Alyafei responded with a 9-6 win over Jonathan Vargas (San Juan, PR). Alyafei went on to lose 12-1 against Marc Pfister (Manilla, PHI). Alyafei lost 8-3 to P.N. Raju (Hyderabad, IN). Alyafei lost 10-2 to Jason Chang (Hong Kong, HKG) where Alyafei responded with a 16-2 win over Harold Woods (Accra, NGR). Alyafei went on to lose 8-6 against Ian Robertson (Kingston, JAM). Alyafei lost 9-4 to Abylay Zhuzbay (Almaty, KAZ) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Alyafei earned 0.563 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week 14 of the event schedule, Alyafei did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Alyafei ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
