Chang responded with a 9-4 win over Harold Woods (Accra, NGR). Chang won 11-2 against Amar Masalmeh (Riyadh, KSA), then won 8-2 against Marcelo Cabral de Mello (Sao Paolo, BRA). Chang went on to lose 7-6 against Abylay Zhuzbay (Almaty, KAZ). Chang responded with a 10-2 win over Nasser Alyafei (Doha, QAT). Chang won 9-2 against P.N. Raju (Hyderabad, IN). Chang went on to lose 9-4 against Pfister. Chang responded with a 10-5 win over Jonathan Vargas (San Juan, PR) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their third place finish at the Pan-Continental Championships -- B-Division, Chang earn 2.250 world rankings points.
