Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK) won 6-5 over Reid Carruthers (Winnipeg, MB) in the Final To advance to the championship game, Laycock won 6-5 over Mick Lizmore (Edmonton, AB) in the semifinals of the 2015 U.S. Open of Curling in Blaine, Minnesota; and won 6-3 over Craig Brown (Blaine, USA) in the quarterfinals.
Laycock finished 4-1 in the 18 team U.S. Open of Curling qualifying round, held January 2 - 4, 2015 in , . In their opening game, Laycock defeated Doug Brewer (Cornwall, ON) 11-2, then won 4-3 against Mike Farbelow (Minnesota). Laycock went on to lose 5-2 against Jeff Currie (Thunder Bay, ON). Laycock responded with a 6-3 win over Heath McCormick (Blaine, USA). Laycock won 8-3 against John Shuster (Minnesota) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the U.S. Open of Curling Championship title, Laycock earned 21.240 world rankings points along with the $8,266CDN first prize cheque. Laycock move up 1 spots after posting a net gain of 18.328 points improving upon their best results so far this season, ranking 8th overall with 226.710 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Laycock ranks 5th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 127.560 points earned so far this season.
