Birr finished 6-3 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Birr defeated Heath McCormick (Blaine, USA) 10-2, then won 8-7 against Stephen Dropkin (Minneapolis, MN). Birr went on to lose 7-6 against Pete Fenson (Bemidji, MN). Birr responded with a 6-5 win over Alex Leichter (Boston, MA). Birr won 8-7 against Hunter Clawson (Laurel, MD). Birr went on to lose 9-4 against Brady Clark (Seattle, WA). Birr responded with a 8-5 win over Craig Brown (Blaine, USA). Birr won 9-1 against Darryl Sobering (Denver, CO). Birr went on to lose 7-6 against Shuster in their final qualifying round match.
With their runner-up finish at the USA Men's National Curling Championship, Birr take home 32.401 world rankings points. Birr move up 5 spots after posting a net gain of 31.399 points improving upon their best results so far this season, ranking 48th overall with 154.265 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
