To advance to the championship game, Kim won 4-2 over Brady Clark (Seattle, WA) in the semifinals of the 2017 Biosteel Oakville Fall Classic in Oakville, Ontario, Canada; and won 5-3 over Codey Maus (London, ON) in the quarterfinals. of the 2017 Biosteel Oakville Fall Classic in Oakville, Ontario, Canada;
 
Kim finished 4-0 in the 25-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Kim defeated De Jia Zou (Harbin, CHN) 6-2, then won 5-3 against Tom Brewster (Aberdeen, SCO) and 8-4 against Patric Mabergs (Skelleftea, SWE). Kim won 6-0 against Ontario's John Steski in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Biosteel Oakville Fall Classic, Kim take home 27.864 world rankings points along with the $2,400CDN prize, moving up 7 spots the World Ranking Standings into 31st place overall with 135.461 total points. Kim ranks 5th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 66.190 points earned so far this season.
