To advance to the championship game, Bitz won 7-6 over Jason Jacobson (Saskatoon, SK) in the semifinals of the 2017 Regina Highland Cashspiel in Regina, Saskatchewan; and won 7-6 over Trevor Funk (Medicine Hat, AB) in the quarterfinals.
 
Bitz finished 3-0 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Bitz defeated Jason Ackerman (Regina, SK) 5-2, then won 11-3 against Ben Gamble (Regina, SK) and 6-4 against Brent Gedak (Estevan, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Regina Highland Cashspiel, Bitz take home 12.251 world rankings points along with the $1,800CDN prize, moving up 40 spots the World Ranking Standings into 126th place overall with 31.649 total points. Bitz ranks 123rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 12.251 points earned so far this season.
