Shuai Yu Zhang (Beijing, CHN) finished 6-0 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Zhang defeated Yu Long Sun (Beijing, CHN) 5-4, then won 12-3 against Italy's Gabriele Dallapiccola and 13-1 against Italy's Paolo Ioriatti. Zhang won 14-1 against Italy's Sandro Dal Farra, then won 11-4 against Italy's Maurizio Cagol and 7-1 against Konstantin Kurokhtin (Moscow, RUS) in their final qualifying round match.
