John Shuster (Duluth, MN) lost 5-3 to Glenn Howard (Penetanguishene, ON) in the Final of the Nufloors Penticton Curling Classic, held November 30 - December 4 at the Penticton Curling Club in Penticton, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Shuster won 8-4 over Matt Dunstone (Winnipeg, MB) in the semifinals of the Nufloors Penticton Curling Classic in Penticton, British Columbia, Canada; and won 5-1 over Mike McEwen (Saskatoon, SK) in the quarterfinals. of the Nufloors Penticton Curling Classic in Penticton, British Columbia, Canada;
Shuster finished 5-0 in the 30-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Shuster defeated Jason Montgomery (Victoria, BC) 7-4, then won 6-5 against Riku Yanagisawa (Karuizawa, JPN) and 4-3 against Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB). Shuster won 7-6 against Jeff Richard (Kelowna, BC), then won 7-1 against Wylie Eden (Kelowna, BC) in their final qualifying round match.
With their runner-up finish at the Nufloors Penticton Curling Classic, Shuster take home 33.000 world rankings points along with the $15,000CDN prize. Shuster move up 7 spots after posting a net gain of 9.469 points improving upon their best 6 results so far this season, ranking 18th overall with 162.282 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Shuster ranks 28th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 91.688 points earned so far this season.
