To advance to the championship game, Koana/Aoki won 8-7 over Satsuki Fujisawa/Tsuyoshi Yamaguchi (Kitami, JPN) in the semifinals of the 2023 Japan Mixed Doubles National Championship in ; and won 7-4 over Kohane Tsuruga/Takaaki Minami (Sapporo, JPN) in the quarterfinals. of the 2023 Japan Mixed Doubles National Championship in ;

Koana/Aoki finished 5-1 in the 21-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Koana/Aoki defeated Junko Nishimuro/Satoru Tsukamoto (Karuizawa, JPN) 8-4, then went on to lose 8-5 against Misato Yanagisawa/Satoshi Koizumi (Karuizawa, JPN). Koana/Aoki responded with a 7-3 win over Michiko Tomabechi/Kenji Tomabechi (Hokkaido, JPN). Koana/Aoki won 6-3 against Nanae Shukuya/Koji Nisato (Hokkaido, JPN), then won 9-5 against Yumiko Kashiwagi/Akira Otsuka (Karuizawa, JPN) and 14-1 against Japan's Ai Kawata/Koki Takahara in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Japan Mixed Doubles National Championship, Koana/Aoki take home 13.750 world rankings points.
